Don’t go changin’

This is the current long range forecast for Dalton, GA the week and weekend of the first Snake Creek Gap race. By posting this I am likely cursing all of us to a day of sleet, constant rain, and near freezing temps. Just like forgetting to take your rain jacket on a fishing trip because it’s currently sunny outside. I still plan to take the singlespeed to the race, because I’ve liked riding it more lately than the full suspension. I’m convinced that one gear isn’treally slower on a course like the Snake, and I know I’ll be walking in all the same places anyway.

It is far from currently sunny outside in Nashville, which makes it hard to get motivated for riding even though I’m off work the rest of this week. Fenders are still off the Nature Boy to make room for fat tires, so any riding I do will result in a dirty bike and a wetter than usual me. I still might head out today. There’s this thing I’m working on in preparation for the upcoming race season. It’s called training. I’m not very familiar with it, which is obvious given my race results. Along with the training comes eating better and consuming less of the fermented beverages. I’m a few days into that after the inevitable Christmas candy binge. I made some insane killer Christmas candy this year and had to sample enough of it to make sure it was good. That has all been replaced by salads, vegetables, water, grilled lean meats, and general monk-like living. New Years is coming up though, so there may be setbacks along the way.
